School holiday fun

With School holidays just around the corner we thought we would focus on our favourite kid friendly activities for this blog.

Firstly, it’s hard not to mention the incredible beaches that surround the motel. Both Boomerang and Elizabeth Beaches are patrolled so very family friendly. And Boomerang just got voted the 2nd best beach in Australia in 2023 so this is totally a ‘tick off the bucket list moment’ whilst you’re here!

Of course, if it is too windy or you’re just not wanting to go far, then we have our lovely pool area to just hang out at. A favourite with the kids, and with our gorgeous poolside seating, it’s easy to just sit back and relax whilst the kids play in the pool.

If you’re looking for a change of scenery, then you can always head over to the lakes. There is SUP board and canoe hire just next to Frothy Coffee in Smiths Lake for a great family activity.

Tiona Holiday Park will have live music and sausage sizzles every Sunday through the holidays at the Palms Pavilion. A lovely way to spend the afternoon at the lake.

Just 20 mins away is Forster and a whole other world, with amazing beaches, great restaurants and family friendly fun!
Head to Forster Marina to hire a boat. Whether it be for fishing, or just pottering around the lakes, this can be a great activity for the whole family. Or perhaps go out on the Amaroo in search of some Dolphins.

Have lunches or dinners at one of the many family friendly restaurants:

Pezellas for great pizza, Bella Bellissimo for amazing pasta
Manyana’s or Si Sinorita for mouth-watering Mexican and yummy margaritas
Spice Monkeys or Dragons Den for excellent Asian Fusion
And of course we have to mention Sinners and Saints Ice Creamery or the Natural Waffle Ice Cream Parlour for lip smacking desserts!

Or perhaps just head to the Recky for simple pub food with a gorgeous view and plenty of space for the kids to run wild!
Sips at Moby’s is also a great local restaurant and if you’re not wanting to drive, then this is for you!

Sometimes it rains in paradise and on these days, it can always be challenging to entertain kids!

We can recommend the following places for some indoor activities….

Head to the YMCA in Forster for indoor swimming pools and a small soft play area for the younger kids.
Other soft play areas are The Hangout or Kidspot. Both will keep your children entertained for a few hours and they all serve coffee which is a bonus for the parents! Tenpin bowling, laser skirmish and Jurassic Putt Putt can be found at Forster Entertainment Centre and Great Lakes Cinema can be found over the bridge in Tuncurry.

If you are looking for serious adventures then we can highly recommend horse riding with Horseabout Tours, diving with Forster Dive Centre or perhaps even foil boarding with Glide Time.
