We are extremely lucky to be surrounded with many different waterways at The Palms, whether it be oceans or lakes. Therefore, water sports are pretty much covered. As mentioned above there are excellent surf beaches surrounding.
Below is a list of some of the best:
If you’ve never surfed before then get in touch with Gary Hughes, Surface. He is a local surf instructor here at Blueys and provides a first-class experience in introducing you to the waves.
Stand up paddle boarding is also a great activity here at the palms. Head over to the lakeside to enjoy the calmer waters. SUP boards can be hired from Frothy Coffee at Smiths Lake.
Snorkelling and diving can also be enjoyed. Seal Rocks has great snorkelling and people have even been able to spot turtles in the water! Seal Rocks is also a fab place to enjoy a bit of whale watching during the migration season. Hike up to the top of the lighthouse (which is worth a visit in its own right) to get the best vantage point.
Situated just 200m from the motel, Blueys Beach is perfectly pristine and offers stunning views back over to Seal Rocks. This beach is perfect for relaxing and surfing and more often than not, dolphin watching.
Boomerang and Elizabeth Beach are located just 5 minutes’ drive from the motel and are family friendly options as both offer patrolled areas. Boomerang is also an excellent surf beach and the surf comps are held here year-round.
Cellito Beach is a great surf beach with sweeping views towards Seal Rocks. Walking along a stunning boardwalk under the canopy of towering cabbage palms, you'll pop out to a small wooden platform overlooking the turquoise waters and crystal white sand.
Seal Rocks is a quintessential Barrington Coast isolated seaside village. It's famous for the beautiful lighthouse overlooking wild and remote beaches. Think unspoilt surfing beaches, snorkelling and diving, and idyllic picnic areas. The walk to the lighthouse takes you through coastal forest up to the headland for views that will never be forgotten.
